On September 10, 2016 local time (early morning of September 11, Beijing time), the 73rd Venice Film Festival held its closing awards ceremony.

In the end, the film "The Woman Leaving" directed by Filipino director Lav Daz won the Golden Lion Award for Best Film. This newly born Golden Lion Award can be said to be a long-awaited one, but the film is nearly 4 hours long, which quite tests the audience's patience. The film tells the story of a female teacher who struggles between anger and forgiveness after being wrongly convicted and released from prison. Director Raf Daz won the Horizon Unit Best Film Award at the 65th Venice Film Festival in 2008 for his film "Melancholia".
The Grand Jury Prize went to Tom Ford's second film "Nocturnal Animals", which has a good reputation, and the Best Director Award went to a double-yolked egg, shared by Amat Iskarat for "The Savage Land" and Andrei Konchalovsky for "War in Paradise".
In terms of acting awards, "Sister Stone" Emma Stone, who was not present, won the Best Actress for "La La Land", and Oscar Martinez was awarded the Best Actor for "Outstanding Citizen" without any suspense.
This year, no Chinese-language film was shortlisted for the main competition. In the Horizon category, Chinese director Wang Bing won the Best Screenplay Award for the documentary "Bitter Money" in the Horizon category. "The First Lady" starring Natalie Portman won the Best Screenplay Award. Zhao Wei appeared on the red carpet as a judge of the main competition unit.
