On September 13, 93-year-old former Israeli President Peres was rushed to Tel Aviv Shebach Medical Center for treatment due to a stroke. Currently, Perez has been injected with sedatives and is receiving special care in the intensive care unit using a ventilator.
According to the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) report, Tel Hashomer, the head of Shebach Medical Center, said that Perez suffered a massive intracranial bleeding after a stroke. After arriving at the hospital, the doctor has conducted a series of examinations on him and will evaluate his physical condition again soon.
Perez's son Chemi said the situation is complicated and the family is going through a sad moment and will try to stay optimistic.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu (Benjamir Netanyahu also posted a message on Facebook to pray for Peres, hoping that he would get well soon.
In January this year, Perez was sent to this hospital twice due to heart discomfort and underwent a successful operation.
Peres is a heavyweight in Israeli politics. Born in Poland, he served as prime minister three times during his nearly 70 years in politics, as well as foreign minister and finance minister.
In 1993, as Foreign Minister Peres, then Prime Minister Rabin and Palestinian leader Arafat brokered a peace agreement between Israel and Palestine. In 1994, the three jointly won the Nobel Peace Prize.
Peres served as the president of Israel from 2007 to 2014. After leaving office, he remained active in the public sphere and continued to promote the peaceful coexistence of Arabs and Jews.
