In the past two days, at the intersection of Seventh Avenue and Broadway in the center of Times Square in New York, three large pink X-shaped sofas have become the latest eye-catchers. This is a set of art works by artist Jürgen Mayer H.. He hopes to provide New York residents and global tourists who pass by Times Square with a new perspective on the square. At the same time, he also hopes that this device and the people who use it can become a new landscape of this world landmark.

This is why this sofa is chosen in pink. After all, if you want to be noticed in the colorful and bustling Times Square, if you just use some moderate colors, it is almost impossible.

Since the large sofa is X-shaped, it can accommodate one or at most two users on each of the four corners. Users can lie down or sit down; they can have a drink or read a book for a while; of course, the most standard way is to look up at the advertisements on the giant screens in the square or take a photo. I believe that no matter what, this will be an interesting experience.

“On the photo social application Instagram, there are at least 17,000 photos of Times Square every day on average. J. Mayer’s installation will undoubtedly provide users with a new way to share this landmark. Tim Tompkins, chairman of the Times Square Alliance, emphasized in a relevant statement.
J. Mayer H. is a collaborating artist with Times Square Arts. Under the organization of this organization, a group of artists will take turns to create art in Times Square every year. It is these creations that continuously add fresh scenery and interactive methods to the square, allowing it to advance with the times and always maintain its status as the most important landmark in the world.
