After Miao Ran, Giorgio Armani selected another rising design talent as a support target, her name is Rico Manchi Au.
Since 2013, the 80-year-old man has started his talent selection plan - to select new talents with development potential from young designers and provide them with catwalk opportunities during Milan Fashion Week.
Stella Jean, Andrea Pompilio, Christian Pellizzari and others have successively appeared at the Armani/Teatro, the brand’s official show venue in Milan. Its predecessor was the Nestlé chocolate factory. In 2000, Giorgio Armani specially commissioned Japanese architect Tadao Ando to transform this place into a theater. As a result, fashion editors and buyers who fly from all over the world to watch the show, in addition to looking forward to Giorgio Armani, who has appeared in the finale of each season, most often discuss the young designers that the "old man" is interested in.
Israeli designer Daizy Shely, Japanese brand Facetasm and Greek rising star Angelos Bratis have all been here before. This year, Giorgio Armani suddenly turned his attention to Chinese designers, or to be more precise, Chinese designers who were cultivated in Italian fashion. For example, Miao Ran, a menswear designer who graduated from the School of Fashion Design of the Politecnico di Milano, and Ou Mingjie, who graduated from the Marangoni Institute of Fashion and Design in Italy.
Compared with the former, Oujili debuted earlier, and the retail system of its brand Ricostru has also taken shape. You can not only find exclusive stores in Beijing and Shanghai, but also see it in Dongliang, Moss, ROUNDROUND and other boutiques. Fashionistas who often visit Taobao may have paid attention to the models displayed in the flagship store.
Giorgio Armani himself said about Ricostru: "It's exciting to search for new people from all over the world. You can see the contrast and growth. I admire Ricostru’s simple thinking and detailed design. ”
The designer was born in Guangzhou. She studied at Raffles International School of Design (formerly Lasalle College) before going to Italy to study. In 2009, after graduating and returning to China, Ou Minjie established a clothing design company and created the ready-to-wear brand Ricostr, which means "Ricostruzione" in Italian (Chinese means "reconstruction"). The development of novel fabrics and processes is one of the brand's identifying elements. In addition, the three-dimensional tailoring and transparent color also distinguish it from other brands.
On April 1st today, Ou Minjie released the 2016 autumn and winter series at 798 in Beijing. The latter uses gypsum gray and earth warmth as the main colors, and incorporates metal color blocks that symbolize the future and glass-like transparent color blocks. The color contrast emphasizes the "smooth side" and "dark side" of the three-dimensional rock. The designer used plaster-textured wool and glass-textured silk as materials.
