In order to satisfy photographers' constant pursuit of image quality, Canon EOS 5D Mark IV is equipped with a newly developed CMOS image sensor of approximately 30.4 million effective pixels, which can bring more detailed and realistic shooting effects. The image sensor has high-speed signal reading capabilities and can produce low-noise images at high sensitivities.

Paired with the above image sensor is Canon's DIGIC 6+ image processor. This processor, which is also used in the EOS flagship product EOS-1D X Mark II, can significantly suppress the generation of noise in high-sensitivity images through a new noise processing algorithm. At the same time, the DIGIC 6+ image processor also provides powerful in-camera image processing capabilities. It can achieve a variety of image quality optimization processes on the camera without using Canon Digital Photo Professional software, effectively improving image quality. In addition, with the help of the DIGIC 6+ image processor, EOS 5D Mark IV also realizes DCI 4K/30P EOS short film shooting function.

When shooting still photos, the 5D Mark IV can be set within the standard sensitivity range of ISO 100-32000. In addition, in some special shooting environments, the sensitivity can be expanded to the lowest ISO 50 or the highest ISO 102400 to expand shooting.

In addition to supporting distortion correction for JPEG images and diffraction aberration correction that can improve the quality of small-aperture shooting, EOS 5D Mark IV also adds the function of digital lens optimization for JPEG images, which is also the first time it appears on an EOS digital SLR camera.

The digital lens optimization function not only compensates for lens aberrations, but also corrects light changes caused by diffraction phenomena and low-pass filters, thereby achieving higher image quality. In addition, EOS 5D Mark IV also provides practical peripheral light correction functions and chromatic aberration correction functions.

In order to make more precise adjustments to the image, the EOS 5D Mark IV also adds a newly developed feature by Canon - supporting full-pixel dual-core RAW images. This feature is also the first to be applied to an EOS digital SLR camera.

The full-pixel dual-core RAW optimization function can perform three adjustment operations, including resolution compensation, blurred foreground displacement, and ghost suppression. Resolution compensation can further finely adjust the position of the maximum sharpness and resolution area in the image; blurred foreground shift can slightly horizontally shift the blurred foreground area in the picture to achieve different viewing angle effects; and ghost suppression can effectively reduce the ghosting phenomenon generated by the image under certain conditions.

EOS 5D Mark IV uses a 61-point autofocus system. With this feature, when users use a telephoto extender to shoot, even if the maximum aperture is reduced to F8, the focus can be accurately achieved through autofocus. Therefore, it can provide greater practicality when shooting sports scenes and natural ecology such as wild birds.

In order to achieve high-precision focusing performance in low light, the central focus point of the EOS 5D Mark IV can still focus automatically at -3EV3 low brightness. Even in situations where it is difficult for the naked eye to identify the surrounding environment, such as on a moonlit night without street lights or in a dark room, the autofocus can achieve correct focus.

EOS 5D Mark IV is equipped with an "approximately 150,000-pixel RGB+infrared metering sensor" with 252 subdivided areas. Working with the DIGIC 6+ digital image processor, it can not only detect the brightness distribution of the scene, but also analyze the color of the subject and the face of the person.

EOS 5D Mark IV is also the model with the highest continuous shooting speed among the EOS 5D series, reaching a high-speed continuous shooting capability of up to about 7 frames per second. It can capture more exciting pictures when shooting moving objects.

In addition to taking photos, EOS 5D Mark IV also enables in-camera recording of DCI5 4K (4096×2160)/30P ultra-high-definition video. This feature will significantly expand the application field of EOS 5D Mark IV video shooting, especially in the field of commercial shooting. Using the built-in Wi-Fi function, EOS 5D Mark IV can easily connect to smart mobile devices such as smartphones or tablets installed with the Camera Connect application, view captured images and videos on the smartphone, and support the transfer of images and videos to the smartphone. The camera also supports off-camera remote control operation. When shooting, you can view the real-time display on the smartphone screen, adjust shooting settings, and operate autofocus and shutter release.

To coincide with the release of the EOS 5D Mark IV, Canon has also launched a new L-class EF standard zoom lens, the EF 24-105mm f/4L IS II USM.
