On the evening of September 18, Baidu Professional Ethics Committee sent a notification email to all employees.
According to the content of the email obtained by Jiemian News, Baidu’s email detailed 17 internal violations of laws and disciplines.
According to statistics from Jiemian News reporters, a total of 30 employees were notified of dismissal (including 1 intern and 2 resigned employees). The business departments involved include Baidu Nuomi, Baidu Direct Sales Branch, Channel Department, Business Cooperation Promotion Department, Search Product Marketing Department, Baidu Tieba, Mobile Distribution and other departments.
The crimes involved include cheating on merchants, defrauding company subsidies, falsely reporting conference expenses, occupying promotion fees, making large transactions with partners, tampering with search rankings, accepting bribes, and committing fraud to offset performance. Some serious acts have been referred to the judiciary. For a large-traffic company like Baidu, any small bad move by a grassroots employee can bring huge economic effects.
It is worth noting that in this notification of dismissal, not only Beijing, where Baidu’s headquarters is located, is subject to supervision, but also the employees involved in Baidu’s branches in Chengdu, Hefei, Xi’an, and Central China were dismissed.
This is a large-scale liquidation of Baidu's ethical behavior standards for its employees, whose number is relatively rare in media exposure.
